General summary:
Overall, health of mostly animals was average. They were not active. Many of them were resting in their cages. Most of the cages were clean except a few. Unpleasant smell was spread around especially chimpanzee’s cages. People were trying to touch animals and throw food items to them which is prohibited by the administration but as no administrative body was around so it was openly violated.
Improvements which should be made for the maintenance of Lahore Zoo:
1.       First Protect, conserve, manage and sustain diversified wildlife species and their natural habitat in the Zoo.
2.       Search for new wildlife potential areas located in the Zoo.
3.       Lahore Zoo has been criticized for not having the level of medical facilities expected in a modern zoo therefore it should have recommended to make the proper medical staff for taking great care of animals.
4.       Zoo maintenance can be improved by public awareness through posters, brochures, hoardings and media campaigns.
5.       Reintroduction of different indigenous wildlife species in their original habitat by increasing captivity breeding potential at Wildlife Breeding Centers as well as in the Zoo.
6.       Develop ecologically-balanced wildlife policy for the development of the Zoo
7.       Promote wildlife-based tourism (Eco-tourism) through development of safaris and trophy hunting i.e. creating the best possible opportunities for sport hunting under legal cover to reduce pressure of illegal hunting.
8.       Protection of endangered wildlife species in Zoo through establishment of Protection Force.
9.       Feasibility studies of Lahore Zoo.
10.   Rehabilitation of Zoo for better management.
11.   For the betterment of Zoo it should be necessary to make proper conservancy and works for machinery, stores, tools and equipment also for provide commodities & services to the visitors and make a proper cost of establishment.
