Tmarix indica


Tmarix indica:

Tmarix is a genus which has 50 to 60 species in different area of the world.One of them is most important species which is mostly found in the Eurasia plat of the earth. In Pakistan this plant is 
found in the plains of the Indus River. The image of that species is given below:

Habitat:
In Pakistan it is mostly grow in the salinity soil because it has tolerance to bear the high quantity of the salt in the soil. It is evergreen tree which about 17 meter height. In the area of kallar kahar to Indus river basin it is located everywhere.
Characteristics:
This is an evergreen shrub plant which has slender bushes with green foliage. The bark of this plant is reddish brown. The pink to white flowers appear in dense masses on 5–10 cm long spikes at branch tips from March to September, though some species tend to flower during the winter.
Ecological importance:
Ecological this plant is good for reducing the saline characters of the soil. It is one of the most important plants of riverine sindh forest. And these plant supports to the newly deposited soil from Punjab to Indus river basin.
Biological importance:
This plant is used for biological function. This plant is used for the different disease like for tuberioclosis this plant is medical using. It is also foot of the fauna f that area.
Economic importance:
Rivereine forests are the mainstay of forestry in Sindh. Besides providing a source of livelihood for thousands of people, these forests provide fuel wood, timber, fodder, honey and tannin. Moreover, they serve as carbon sinks and also protect the surrounding areas from the severity of floods.
